Audit and accountancy firms Grant Thornton Rimess and LF Eksperts merged in Latvia in October. A team of BDO’s financial consultants and auditors also joined the company that will be called Grant Thornton Baltic SIA. As a result of the merger, Grant Thornton Baltic SIA has become the largest Latvian audit and accountancy firm managed by local partners.
Grant Thornton Baltic SIA has 80 employees and belongs to Grant Thornton Baltic Group, which also has firms operating in Estonia (Grant Thornton Baltic OÜ) and Lithuania (UAB Grant Thornton Baltic). The firms in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania are managed by local partners, ensuring in-depth knowledge of the specific features of the country and the market.
Mati Nõmmiste, one of the founders and a partner of Grant Thornton Baltic Group, was delighted that the Latvian merger will strengthen Grant Thornton’s position in all of the Baltic countries. “Close cooperation between our offices in Tallinn, Tartu, Riga, Vilnius, Kaunas and Klaipeda means that we can provide a professional, reliable and all-in-one service from one source to clients who operate in several Baltic countries,” said Mati Nõmmiste.
Both Grant Thornton Rimess and LF Eksperts are well-known companies in the area of auditing and accountancy, and LF Eksperts held a leading position on the accounting services market. From BDO, partner Dainis Tunsts with a team of financial consultants, auditors and accountants joined Grant Thornton Baltic SIA along with its clients. In the future, Grant Thornton Baltic SIA will therefore place an even greater emphasis on the development of financial and tax advisory as well as legal advisory services.
