Managing partner of Grant Thornton Rimess Baltic Mati Nõmmiste spoke about the reasons for acquiring Interna: “We sensed that there was demand on the market and among our clients for internal audit services. Trainings in this field are undoubtedly important, and Interna has been a successful organiser of these. In analysing our product portfolio, we found that Interna’s services were a very good match with our existing services and so we started pursuing the acquisition. Siiri Antsmäe, the former owner of Interna OÜ and now the head of Grant Thornton Baltic’s internal audit division, says the change in ownership will make it possible to offer even more professional, more encompassing internal audit service. “In addition, a superb opportunity has come up to offer internal audit services within the Grant Thornton Group and in other countries,” she said.

Interna OÜ was founded in 2006 and the company operated under the name siseaudiitor.ee. It was Estonia’s only specialized provider of internal audit service. Among other clients, siseaudiitor.ee is a provider of internal audit services to ministries, government institutions, the European Commission and private sector companies, including companies supervised by the Financial Supervision Authority. Siseaudiitor.ee has also had an important role in training internal auditors, as it was Estonia’s only company providing trainings specifically geared to internal auditors.
