The 21st of May brought us sorrowful news: Aivar Kangust, former partner and sworn auditor at Grant Thornton Baltic, has passed away and embarked on the path of eternity.
Aivar’s career with us spanned 11 years. As an audit partner, he significantly expanded our client portfolio, but even more impressively, he found a lasting place in the hearts of both our clients and colleagues. “His warmth, positive attitude towards life, and the smile that gleamed from the corners of his eyes made people around him feel good—without Aivar having to make any special effort,” recalled Mati Nõmmiste, Managing Partner and sworn auditor at Grant Thornton Baltic.
Once, Aivar was asked how he builds strong relationships within his team. He laughed and said it was a question more about “how you live your life.” “I just try to be humane, even when someone makes a mistake. After all, I make mistakes too. A good joke helps as well,” Aivar said at the time.
Aivar lived his life to the fullest. He enjoyed his work, cherished moments with family and friends, and loved playing golf and fishing. Fate decided that Aivar would take his final steps in one of his favorite places—on the golf course...
